THE WEATHER took a turn for the worse on Saturday and so did Orient's home form, as they suffered their first defeat at Brisbane Road in 2010. The O's need to re-focus before next week's derby reckons full-back Charlie Daniels, who spoke to leytonorient.com after the game.

Charlie, a miserable afternoon, what did you make of it?

"It was hard. I think Huddersfield came to play football but the pitch didn't help us play our normal game. But we should have done a lot better than we did. When we played them away we knew they were a good footballing side, they do try to press you and they did turn us, and to be honest we didn't cope with it."

Could we have done better for their two goals?

"To be honest I think nearly every goal you could do better on, but I don't know, it's just one of those days, we just should have played a lot better all round."

The manager kept the same team out there until their second goal - what did he have to say at half-time?

"I think we just needed to be a lot more positive than we had been first half. They put us under a lot of pressure and we needed to just step onto them a bit. Towards the end they started to back off a bit, and we kept going, but we just didn't have that cutting edge."

Is fatigue starting to be a factor, at this stage of the season?

"Maybe, but I don't think so - I think the problems today were mental. In that respect we just weren't up to it."

Brentford next: how important is that game now?

"Next week we've got to get back on track and get a win. It's a local derby, and we'll be up for it. We've got to go back to basics in training this week, and then we can look forward to going there and winning."

Your own form has been pretty decent, do you feel that you've got to grips with playing full-back now?

"It's going alright at the minute. I'm a lot more comfortable playing there now, and I'm looking to progress more from now until the end of the season. Since the start of the season I feel that I've come into my own at left back and I'm starting to enjoy playing there. The more game experience I get, hopefully I'll get better and better."
